LOCAL CYBER ATTACK USES “PHASE 2 GUIDANCE” TO SEND EMAILS TO LOCAL BUSINESSES – CDHD ADVISES NOT TO OPEN ATTACHMENTS.pdf

Chelan and Douglas County, WA – On Friday, October 16, 2020, Chelan-Douglas Health District (CDHD) was notified that a local business was a victim of a cyber-attack. The email system belonging to that business has apparently sent emails to other businesses with a zip file titled “Phase 2 Guidance”.

CDHD DID NOT SEND “PHASE 2 GUIDANCE” AS A ZIP FILE AND ADVISES ANYONE WHO RECEIVED THE EMAIL NOT TO OPEN THE ZIP FILE ATTACHMENT.

CDHD recognizes that local businesses might experience future cyber-attacks referencing COVID-19 or phased reopening guidance. CDHD advises businesses to be cautious with emails regarding COVID-19 guidance that do not come from trusted sources like CDHD, Department of Health, other government agencies and local organizations.
